Rice urad dal idli recipe - We  love rice urad dal Idli for breakfast and I can have it with sambar and chutney on any day. Idli is a South Indian signature dish which is very popular in all parts of India. This is my version of Idlis prepared with basic ingredients like raw rice and split black grams. Variations of Idli can be made by adding some masala and few vegetables like carrot and green peas in the basic Idli batter. Tempering the idli batter with mustard seeds and curry leaves gives a nice flavour to the idli.

This is similar to cucumber dosa. I always add coconut to such dosa. It gives rich tate to the dosa. After making juice from the red portion of the watermelon, the remaining white portion is used to make dosa. If you are making dosa using watermelon rind, peel the skin and use the white part.

Muga mole palya recipe - Muga mole palya is one of the famous and common sabzi varieties of Karnataka and every house hold has its own version to prepare it. Muga mole literally means sprouted green grams and palya means thick coconut based sabzi which is also known as palya in kannada. The sprouted green grams and raw banana combination is awesome and it is my favorite too. This palya is perfect with hot chapati, phulka, rice rotti and steamed rice.It is very flavorful with the addition of freshly ground masla. The  spices in the masala adds inviting aroma and the chilly powder adds taste and the coconut gives a thick consistency to the palya. For a variation you can use potato in the place of plantain and that combination also tastes great.

Shyavige uppittu recipe  - Shyavige uppittu, popularly known as sevai upma is a  best way to use some vegetables and vermicelli together. Mostly, I make vermicelli kheer in combination with sago, but upma with sevai also tastes equally good. If you make upma for breakfast, you can roast the vermicelli well in advance at night. Also you can chop the carrots and place it in the refrigerator for the further use. It looks so attractive with carrot and green peas and can be a pleaser for kids. I made it yesterday for breakfast and make often at least once in a fortnight. I also make upma with semolina and oats. Sevai upma  is so simple to prepare that you can try for evening  teatime snack.

Vangyachi koshimbir recipe - Brinjal salad is a very healthy and delicious salad prepared with roasted brinjal, fresh onions and  grated coconut. This is served as a side dish with jowar roti or jolada rotti, rice or chapatis. Several varieties of  brinjals are available here throughout the year. Any variety of large or medium sized brinjal can be used to make brinjal bharta and brinjal salad.  this koshimbir has smoky aroma as the brinjal is directly burnt on stove top and tempering with  dry red chillies also give some smoky flavor to the dish. The remaining ingredients such as onions, coriander leaves, green chillies and fresh coconut  are mixed in raw form and the koshimbir tastes great with the combination of all these ingredients.

Sambar powder recipe -This is a very flavorful and durable sambar powder which can be stored for about an year. I have not used dry coconut in this sambar masala to increase the shelf life of t it. Instead, I use fresh coconut paste when I prepare sambar. Small kids usually do not like spicy food. Therefore, I have used only forty  byadagi dry red chillies in this sambar powder which is rich in colour and less spicy. Byadagi red chillies are less pungent and deep in red colour in comparison to spicy  Guntur dry red chillies. While making sambar, I adjust chilli powder according to our taste.
