Coconut green chilli chutney recipe - My previous post was neer dosa. I had prepared this chutney to serve with it. Coconut and green chilli chutney is a nice accompaniment for dosa and idlis. Bhindi masala recipe - Ladies finger sabzi

Bhindi masala recipe - Ladies finger or bhindi is one of my favorite vegetables. This is a perishable vegetable and it should be used when it is fresh. Even in the refrigerator the ladies finger gets spoiled quickly. I buy okras in small quantity and love to make either bhindi masala, bhindi sambar, kadai bhindi, bhindi raita, bharli bhindi or bhende sukke. In this dish the ladies finger gets flavor from the mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida, coriander seeds powder and chilly powder. Fresh coocnut adds an extra taste to the dish.You can make this dish to pack in the lunch box with some soft chapati. This is a very eays recipe that you can make quickly within few minutes.

God ambade sasam recipe - Sihi amtekayi sasam is coastal konkan cuisine prepared with hog plums, ground coconut masala paste and jaggery.. God ambade is a seasonal vegetable of Coastal Karnataka. The word god means sweet in konkani. It is also called as sihi ambekayi in Kannada. God ambade is sweet and sour in taste. The dish made with ambade is very delicious and it releases unique flavour of sweet and sour. Whatever the dish prepared with ambade, the dish needs jaggery to balance the taste as the ambade is slightly sour in taste.

Adrak lasun jeera chutney recipe - Ginger, garlic and cumin seedschutney is one of my favorite chutneys. This is an authentic chutney always liked by my family members. Bhende sukke recipe- Bhende sukke is a simple coastal konkan side dish made with ladies fingers. and garnished with fresh coconut. This sukke is a very healthy accompaniment for any main meal. I always like to make dishes with ladies finger. Though this vegetable is slimy, with proper method of preparation it can be cooked into delicious dish.  Besides sukke, ladies fingers are also used to make kadai bhindi, bhindi masala, stuffed bhindi, bhende sambar, bhende ambat, kurkuri bhindi and roasted bhindi.

Bharli bhindi recipe - Bharli bhindi and bharli mirchi or stuffed ladies finger and green chilly  recipe - Bharli mirchi and bharli bhindi are my favorites. The stuffed chilli and okra are great accompaniment to the main course. This can be wrapped in phulka and chapati to serve as a roll, or to pack in the lunch box. I have prepared them several times and thought to share the recipe with you. Another important thing is that the same filling can be used with  capsicum, bitter gourd and ridge gourd. The dry filling powder can be used to make peeth perun bhaji with vegetable such as ivy gourd, cluster beans, capsicum, ridge gourd, radish and spring onion.

Alsande palya recipe - Alsande palya is a traditional sabzi  of South Karnataka. Chapathi is our staple food. So I prepare different sabzis almost everyday. I made this black eyed beans palya for chapathi. It can also be served as a side dish along with rice and curry.  The masala in this sabzi is mildly flavored with spices. Black eyed beans or alsande is low  fat and low calorie legume and very good sources of proteins, iron, potassium and fiber. Therefore sabzi made with black eyed beans are recommended  for vegetarians who require more proteins.

Methi sukke or Menthe soppina upkari or Fenugreek leaves subzi recipe- It is a dry subzi that goes well with roti, chapathi, rice with curry and curd rice. Fenugreek leaves are used to make thepla, curry and kadhi in Maharashtrian homes. Fenugreek leaves in combination with green peas and potato makes a delicious side dish popularly known as methi matar malai and aloo methi sukha bhaaji. Fenugreek leaves are healthy leafy vegetable which can be consumed in any season. The high level of iron in the fenugreek leaves supply the iron requirement and helps to increase the red blood cells and hemoglobin.

Cabbage poriyal recipe - Cabbage poriyal is a simple and easy side dish prepared with cabbage. It is usually served with roti, chapathi and rice with curry. Sometimes when I am confused thinking what to cook for side dish, suddenly poriyal flashes in my mind. Cabbage is definitely not a favorite vegetable in my house. But when it is made in a proper way by using fresh coconut, it becomes a tasty dish. Cabbage is a humble vegetable which is available throughout the year. I always store at least half a kilo of cabbage in my fridge to use it when required. Coconut is abundantly used in South Indian cuisine. Tomato onion chutney  recipe -  Tomato onion chutney also called as kaanda chutney and is one of the flavorful chutneys which I prepare often. This chutney goes well with dosa, idli, chapathi, paratha, thepla and roti. Hot rice with a dollop of ghee and this tomato onion chutney also makes a great and quick meal. This can also be served as a dipping sauce for vada, cutlet and nuggets. It is easy to make and is different from usual coconut chutney.
