Fusilli pasta salad Recipe - How to make pasta salad

salad in a serving bowl
Fusilli Pasta salad with carrot, green peas and cauliflower recipe - Pasta salad is the most easiest and simple to cook dish. Being a dry dish, it is easily packable in lunch box or it can be carried while travelling. This salad is to be served as a breakfast dish or evening tea time snack, with a cup of coffee, tea or  juice. Pasta itself is not so flavorful. So, to enhance the flavor in the dish, I have made seasoning with green chillies, split bengal gram, curry leaves and onions.

Mandakki susla recipe - Puffed rice susla - Churmuri susla

susla in a serving bowl
Mandakki susla recipe -  Susla is nothing but upma prepared with soaked puffed rice and I made it as evening  teatime snack. It is very simple to make and easy on stomach. Though it is simple, it is full of carbohydrates, which we need for our energy. Kids are more active than adults and they need energy packed food. They may find it energy booster as it is rich in carbohydrate. It is more beneficial  when eaten along with a glass of hot milk or lassi.

Sabudana batata khichdi recipe - Sago potato khichdi

Sabudana khichdi in a serving plate
Sabudana batata khichdi recipe - Sabudana or sago and potatoes are widely used in all parts of Maharashtra for preparing upwas or fasting day dishes like sabudana vada, sabudana khichdi and sabudana thalipeeth. Some do not add potatoes in khichdi. But adding potato is beneficial as it is  rich in carbohydrates, which in turn  gives energy needed on upwas or fasting days. Besides being a fasting dish, it is also a  filling breakfast as well. This is an easy yet delicious dish to prepare after soaking the sabudana for two hours. Using red chilli powder is totally optional and it can also be prepared using only green chilies.

kande pohe in a serving plate
Kande pohe recipe - Sometimes, say it once in a week eating poha is fine with us. It is a regular weekly evening snack as it is very easy to prepare. Kande pohe if not prepare properly tastes bland. Therefore the taste needs to be balanced by adding proper amount of lemon juice, salt and sugar. I like to eat it with hot cup of coffee or tea. I always keep raw poha in stock. Raw poha is really handy, when suddenly some guests or friends arrive in the evening. In such a situation without any second thought, I make kande pohe with tea, coffee, milk shakes or juices. In this era of processed food poha has taken a back seat. It is really a delicious, healthy snack. A perfect evening snack for adults and kids.

Shyavige uppittu recipe - Sevai upma - Vermicelli upma

sevai upma in a serving plate
Shyavige uppittu recipe  - Shyavige uppittu, popularly known as sevai upma is a  best way to use some vegetables and vermicelli together. Mostly, I make vermicelli kheer in combination with sago, but upma with sevai also tastes equally good. If you make upma for breakfast, you can roast the vermicelli well in advance at night. Also you can chop the carrots and place it in the refrigerator for the further use. It looks so attractive with carrot and green peas and can be a pleaser for kids. I made it yesterday for breakfast and make often at least once in a fortnight. I also make upma with semolina and oats. Sevai upma  is so simple to prepare that you can try for evening  teatime snack.
