Kela pakoda recipe - Raw banana pakora

Kela pakoda recipe - Banana fritter is a deep fried snack prepared with raw bananas, gram flour, rice flour and corn flour along with other ingredients. Hot pakoda  goes well with mint coriander chutney  or  tomato chutney. You can enjoy it with hot coffee, tea, milkshakes or juices.

Ingredients 
  • 2 raw bananas
  • 3/4  cup gram flour / kadle hittu / besan
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1 tbsp corn flour (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chilly powder
  • pinch of carom seeds / ajwain
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
Method 
  1. Mix the gram flour, rice flour and corn flour together in a bowl. Mix well. Add a tsp of chilly powder, turmeric powder, ajwain and salt to it. Mix well.
  2. Now add some water and make a thick batter to coat the banana slices. Make a thicker batter to get a thicker coat.
  3. Wash, peel and chop the bananas into thin slices. Apply 1/2 tsp chilly powder and a pinch of salt to the banana slices and keep it aside for 2 - 3 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan. Take 1 tbsp hot oil from the pan and mix with the batter.
  5. Now dip few banana slices in the batter and drop them gently in oil one by one.
  6. Allow them to cook till golden brown from bottom.
  7. Turn gently to cook the other side. Fry on medium low flame till golden brown from both sides.
  8. When it is done,  remove and drain with a slotted spoon.
  9. Serve kela pakoda hot with mint coriander chutney or tomato chutney.
