Oats rava uttapa recipe - Oats rava uttapam recipe

Oats rava uttapa or uttapam in a serving plate
Oats rava uttapa or uttapam recipe - Oats, semolina and urad dal uttappa is a simple and perfect breakfast dish, alternative to onion uttappa. I had some oats in stock. I don't like to waste any item. So, I thought about this dish, instead of making oats idli or upma and added oats to rava uttappa batter to give variety to the dish. It was truly delicious. Uttappas goes well with sambar and coconut chutney. It can be prepared very often with less effort in different ways by mixing various vegetables such as carrots, beans, green peas, cabbage etc.

Aloo pakoda recipe - How to make potato pakoda

pakoda in a serving plate
Aloo pakoda recipe - Potato pakoda with dosa batter and gram flour is another delicious dish that I make often whenever I have dosa or idli batter in stock in my fridge. The potato pakoda is usually prepared with besan or gram flour. But, this pakoda has a twist with dosa batter and it is more on the softer side rather than crispy as I had used fermented batter. Adding besan is totally optional, but it provides good binding and frying becomes very easy and pakoda doesn't stick in the bottom.

Sabudana batata thalipeeth recipe - Sago potato thalipeeth

thalipeeth in a serving plate
Sabudana batata thalipeeth recipe - Sabudana Thalipeeth is a substitute to the deep fried Sabudana Vada. Sometimes, I avoid deep frying and stick to the healthy version of shallow frying.  Though it is shallow fried taste wise there is not much difference between shallow fried thalipeeth and deep fried vadas. Thalipeeth tastes great when eaten hot with chutney. Those who are not on fasting can also eat this thalipeeth for their breakfast. This tasty and filling thalipeeth is usually served hot with curd and peanut chutney. It can also prepared using green chilly instead of  red chilly powder.

Shengdanyachi koot - How to make peanut powder

peanut powder in a bottle
Shengdanyachi koot or peanut powder recipe - I adore the Maharashtrian cuisine which is very unique and distinct. Many dishes are prepared using peanut powder as key ingredient. I have been making peanut powder based dishes for the past several years. So, I store home made peanut powder and use them as and when required. This powder is essential for dishes like bharli vaangi, bharli mirchi, bharli bhindi, bhrali karli, bharli dhodka, sabudanyachi khichdi, sabudana batata thali peeth, sabudana batata vada, kande pohe, susla, shengdanyachi chutney etc.

Malvani chana curry recipe - Malvani chickpea curry

Maharashtrian style chickpea curry in serving bowl
Malvani chana or brown chickpea curry recipe - I am a great fan of all malvani dishes, which are very popular in Maharashtra. I have prepared this Malvani chana curry  in a  pressure cooker with store bought malvani masala. If you don't get Malvani masala in your area, you can use some chole masala readily available in the grocery store. This curry goes well with hot steamed rice, ghee or jeera rice, rice or jawari roti, chapati, phulka or any other Indian flat breads.
