Methi nippattu recipe - Methi nippattu is a crispy tea time snack prepared using wheat flour, gram dal flour and fenugreek leaves. This delicious and flavorful snack is very durable and can be stored in an airtight container for several days. Being a durable snack this can be sent to students staying in hostel or convenient to carry while travelling. Whenever I use fenugreek leaves for other dishes, I always think about methi nippattu. Then I make it in small quantity. This is a good tea time snack.

Hesarukalu usli or muga usli - Usli is a Konkan cuisine prepared with boiled pulses, lentils, fresh coconut and seasoned with chillies. Seasoning with dry red chillies adds some chilli flavor to the dish. Usli is also known as sundal. It is a naivedya and fasting dish usually prepared during Navratri. When I was a kid,  my mother was making uslis with different legumes with different versions. Sometimes, when we were not eating it for fasting, she was making it with onion, ginger and garlic. But my favourite version is sundal type usli which does not add onion, ginger or garlic.

Gardudde paays recipe - This is a traditional kheer of Karnataka. White gourd is called as sorekayi in kannada and gardudde in konkani. This kheer is very simple to prepare and quickly gets ready. White gourd doesn't take much time to cook. This kheer or payasa has full of coconut and cardamom flavour. Semolina or rava is used as a thickening agent, otherwise the kheer may turn watery. Instead of rava, rice flour or raw rice paste can also be used.

Kashaya recipe - As I have mentioned in my previous post kashaya powder recipe, Today I am posting a very popular herbal drink of Coastal Karnataka which is prepared in almost all households with their own version. People in that part prefer to give this kashaya to kids in place of tea or coffee. I personally like to drink it instead of tea and coffee. This is my favorite drink and I make it twice a day for me and consume one cup  in the morning and one in the evening . This drink is very healthy and it has no side effects. Hot kashaya which is very easy to prepare, really goes well with some crispy snacks.

Methi sukke or Menthe soppina upkari or Fenugreek leaves subzi recipe- It is a dry subzi that goes well with roti, chapathi, rice with curry and curd rice. Fenugreek leaves are used to make thepla, curry and kadhi in Maharashtrian homes. Fenugreek leaves in combination with green peas and potato makes a delicious side dish popularly known as methi matar malai and aloo methi sukha bhaaji. Fenugreek leaves are healthy leafy vegetable which can be consumed in any season. Tomato onion chutney  recipe -  Tomato onion chutney also called as kaanda chutney and is one of the flavorful chutneys which I prepare often. This chutney goes well with dosa, idli, chapathi, paratha, thepla and roti. Hot rice with a dollop of ghee and this tomato onion chutney also makes a great and quick meal. This can also be served as a dipping sauce for vada, cutlet and nuggets.
