Cheese sandwich recipe with step by step photos - Cheese sandwich is one of the easiest sandwiches which can be prepared very quickly. This sandwich is made with bread slices and mozzarella cheese slices. Mozzarella cheese melts quickly, so it can be prepared in a jiffy. When the bread and cheese are shop bought and you don't even need to make much of an effort. 

Bachelors who love to cook with less ingredients can try this sandwich as a breakfast snack in the morning or they can carry on the go while travelling. This is also a kids friendly snack which can be served in the morning or after school. It can also be packed in their snack box. Just toast the bread on a pan with butter, place the slices of cheese on it. 

Though I have used only two cheese slices on each bread slice, you can use more or less cheese slices and even grated cheddar cheese goes well with it. Toast the bread slices on low flame till the cheese melts and delicious sandwiches are ready to be served. Note that toast the bread on low flame to prevent the bread from burning and  turning dark brown as breads get burnt easily. 

If you like some spicy taste, you can sprinkle some pepper powder on the cheese slices before it melts. During the melting process of the cheese side by side you can prepare hot tea or coffee which is a good accompaniment to it. 

This is a unique sandwich with crisp outer part and soft inner layer. Kids who are poor eaters and choosy can be served such sandwiches to get rid of their tantrum on food. You may even include this in small birthday parties as snack along with other special dishes. This sandwich even goes well with tomato ketchup and dipping sauce like mint coriander chutney. If someone wants to have it with sweet taste, a spoonful of jam can be layered on the bread slices. 

Home made bread is always better than shop bought. But for your convenience always try to buy whole wheat bread slices which is not only tasty but also healthy. Whole wheat honey bread recipe

Whole wheat honey bread recipe - This is a soft, moist and  healthy bread made with wheat flour and honey. I call it  healthy because wheat flour contains natural antioxidants, fibers, B vitamins along with unique flavor, colour and texture. This bread also carries all the goodness of honey and yogurt. Honey is a healthy sweetener and enhances the taste of bread. Note that use of honey is optional and if you do not like to add honey you can skip it.

I have baked this healthy bread few days back. I set aside the dough for about 4 hours to rise higher enough to get the light and soft bread. Usually, I store bread at room temperature up to 3 days. Therefore I make only one loaf at a time. Several years back, I had joined a cookery class to learn  various cakes, breads, cookies and ice cream. There I learnt this bread. Since then I baked it a few times and every time it has come perfectly, so decided to share this recipe with you all. 

Bread is very handy and is useful in making quick sandwiches and toast. Freshly made green chutney with fresh cucumber and tomato slices make a healthy sandwich. A layer of jam and cheese on the toasted bread slices make delicious jam sandwiches and kids love it for sure. Peanut butter sandwich and white sauce sandwiches are one of the popular sandwiches. You can make bread upma, double ka meetha, shahi tukda, bread rasmalai and bread jamun with this bread.

Strawberry Jam recipe - Jam sandwich recipe

Strawberry jam and jam sandwich recipe - Here is the easiest and quickest strawberry jam and jam sandwich recipe for you all. Most kids like to have variety of sandwiches as their breakfast snack and after school snack.They even like to carry it to school in their snack box. Jam sandwich is one of their favorite snacks and it is popular among many. 

Sometimes, I buy mapro mixed fruit jam and store it in the refrigerator to use it on lazy days to make easy bread jam sandwiches. Occasionally, I make chapati wrapper by spreading the jam and ghee on it and trust me it tastes great. Mixed fruit jam is basically made by mixing variety of sweet and citrus fruits and jams available in the market contain preservatives and high content of sugar. 

However, home made jams have no preservative and much lesser sugar content in it. Keeping health in mind, I decided to go for home made jams with my own version. I either make apple pineapple jam or strawberry jam to make sandwiches. You can prepare this jam with only two ingredients. Earlier, I had posted apple pineapple jam recipe. Thus, this is my second jam recipe. If you have small kids and they prefer sandwiches, please do try this delectable strawberry jam and jam sandwiches to  treat your kids and enjoy.

Strawberry Jam Recipe - Jam Sandwich Recipe
A delicious and healthy strawberry jam made with only two ingredients. Fresh strawberries and sugar are the key ingredients in this recipe. This jam is used in making jam sandwiches and wrapper which is kids friendly and can be packed in the snack box.

Ingredients
For the jam
  • 20 strawberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
For the sandwiches
  • 2 bread slices or as required
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 2 tbsp strawberry jam
Method
  1. Rinse the strawberries under running water and gently rub them. Pat dry and remove the green leaves and stems.
  2. Hull the strawberries and slice them into 4 parts.
  3. Transfer the sliced strawberries to a large bowl. Pour the sugar on it.
  4. Mix the sugar well and keep it aside for 20 minutes.
  5. Then transfer the strawberries alongwith juice to a deep pan.
  6. Place this pan on a medium flame and Mash the strawberries with the back of a spoon while stirring.
  7. Boil till the strawberries become soft and the mixture thickens and leaves the edges.
  8. Boil till you get the  thick consistency jam and remove from the flame.
  9. Allow it to cool. Store in an airtight container. This jam can be stored in the refrigerator for about 12 days.
Making the Sandwiches
  1. To make sandwiches, heat a griddle or tawa and pour some butter on it. Toast the bread slices till crisp. Trim the edges if you like it.
  2. Then put 1 tbsp of jam on it and spread. Repeat the same process with another bread slice. You can spread cheese at this stage if you are using it.
  3. Then put both bread slices on one another to make jam sandwich. 
  4. Toast till the outer portion become crisp.
  5. Transfer to a plate.
  6. Halve the jam sandwich and serve.
  7. You can pack it in the snack box.

Pav bhaji recipe - Mumbai pav bhaji recipe

Pav bhaji recipe - Pav bhaji is a famous street food of Mumbai or Bombay.  It is a common scene that several carts are serving pav bhaji on streets and beach. Now it is a popular fast food in all parts of India. For the preparation of this bhaji, I have used MTR pav bhaji masala which is readily available in the shop. 

This potato based bhaji has a special taste and texture. Besides potatoes, other vegetables like cauliflower, green peas and capsicums are used to make it more healthier and tasty. This bhaji is usually served with pavs or bread slices. 

Now a days pav bhaji has become staple food of many homes. Making pav bhaji with easily available masala is not a big task. Pavs especially prepared for this pav bhaji is available at any time in bakery shop. It is a full meal itself and you don't even need to prepare any other staple food like chapathi, sabzi, rice etc. 

This is a versatile dish served in parties, breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will get pav bhaji out side of schools, offices and parks. I have used bread slices in the place of pav. To make a use of already available bread slices, I have not bough the pavs. Like pavs, bread slices are also shallow fried in butter. 

Pav Bhaji Recipe - Mumbai Pav Bhaji Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 + 1 large onions
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 green chilli chopped
  • 1/4 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 large tomato, grated
  • 2 tbsp pav bhaji masala
  • (I have used MTR pav bhaji masala )
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric / haldi
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp jeera powder
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • ½ + ½  lemon
  • 1½ tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Salt to taste
Vegetables needed
  • 1 large potato
  • 3/4 cup green peas
  • 1 cup cauliflower florets
  • 1 large capsicum, chopped
Method
  1. Wash the green peas, capsicums and cauliflower florets separately. Cut the capsicum into two halves. Remove the seeds and chop it into small pieces. Heat 3 cups of water in a deep vessel and boil the cauliflower, capsicums and green peas until soft.
  2. Wash and peel the potato. Cut it into large cubes and steam it till soft.
  3. Mash the steamed potatoes and keep it aside.
  4. Grate 1 large onion. Heat the oil in a pan. Add the green chillies, ginger and curry leaves. Saute for a minute and add the  grated onions. Stir till the onions turn translucent. (Reserve another onion to garnish the bhaji.)
  5. Once the onions become translucent, add the grated tomatoes.
  6. Cook covered till the tomatoes become soft.
  7. Add the pavbhaji masala, chilli powder, coriander powder, jeera  powder and haldi powder to the onion tomato mixture. 
  8. Saute for 2 minutes on low flame. Prevent it from burning.
  9. Add 2 cups of vegetable stock and salt, stir to combine.
  10. Add the mashed potatoes and mix well.
  11. Add the boiled green peas, capsicums and cauliflower.
  12. Stir well and bring it to boil. Further, simmer till you get the desired consistency.
  13. Add the chopped cilantro and mix well. Remove from the flame. Squeeze the ½ lime in the bhaaji and mix well.
  14. While serving, thinly slice the onions and squeeze the ½  lime on it and sprinkle salt. 
  15. Garnish pav bhaaji with this onions. If you are using pav with pav bhaji, slit the pav  and apply butter to it. 
  16. Heat a griddle and roast the pav till golden colour from all sides and serve hot with pav bhaji. 
  17. If you are using bread slices, apply butter to the slices and roast them on a griddle for few minutes and serve hot with bhaaji. 
  18. Pav bhaji tastes great with both pav and bread slices.

White sauce cheese sandwich recipe - Today, I am going to share a very simple and easy recipe of  bread sandwich prepared with cheese and white sauce with corn and carrot. You can check here for the white sauce with corn and carrot recipe which I had posted earlier. I have served this sandwich with tomato - pepper -garlic chutney. It also goes well with mint coriander chutney and tomato sauce.

Ingredients
  • 20 bread slices
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • White sauce with carrot and corn
Method
  1. Take the bread slices and using a knife trim the sides of bread slices. Place these bread slices on a griddle till the outer side becomes slightly hard. 
  2. Remove and arrange it on a plate. Put 2 tbsp of  white sauce with corn and carrot on one slice. Then spread 2 tbsp of grated cheese on it. Place another roasted bread slice on it 
  3. Heat a tawa on medium flame and place this sandwiches on it. Roast till the cheese melts.
  4. Transfer to a plate and serve with choice of your chutney and tomato sauce.

White sauce for bread sandwiches and pasta dishes

White sauce for bread sandwiches and pasta dishes recipe - Today I am going to share a basic recipe of white sauce which has multiple use in making bread sandwiches and various pasta delights. The use of this white sauce, transforms the above mentioned simple dishes into a fancy delectable dish which would attract both kids and adults. 

Above all, this sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for about a week as it is very handy and can be used during busy hours to make sandwiches and pasta dishes. White sauce is prepared using refined flour, milk, sweet corn and carrots and is a favorite sauce of North India among many. It is a healthy, tasty and good sauce to make delicious snacks which is liked by all age group people and every one loves it in my home.

The recipe makes 8 - 10 sandwiches or base for 4 serving pasta dishes. Carrot and sweet corn are optional. By adding these the taste of sauce enhances. You can also use thinly chopped beans with this recipe. Do not add salt while boiling or when the sauce is in thin consistency. Once the sauce becomes thick,  add salt, mix well and remove from the flame. 

White Sauce for  Sandwiches and Pasta Dishes

Delicious and healthy white sauce prepared with milk, refined flour or maida, sweet corn and carrots. This is useful in making sandwiches and various pasta dishes.

Ingredients
  • 2 heaped tbsps maida / refined flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup grated carrot (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sweet corn (optional)
  • A generous pinch of sugar
  • Salt to taste
Method
  1. Heat the butter in a pan and fry the refined flour nicely for 10 minutes.  Add the milk and water and mix stirring continuously to prevent the refined flour turns into lump.
  2. Bring it to boil, then add the grated carrot, sweet corn and sugar. Boil it on low flame till the corn cooks well. Then simmer the sauce till it becomes thick.
  3. Once it becomes thick, add the salt and mix well. Remove and store it in the fridge. This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for about a week.
  4. This white sauce is useful in making bread sandwiches and various pasta dishes.
